My name is Yvonne Schlueter-Promes and I am a LIMHP that has 28 years years of experience working in the field of mental health. I share with my clients that my brain is like a toolbox from which I can pick and choose the best tool for the person sitting in front of me. It is a unique process for each person rather than a one size fits all approach. Some of the tools in my toolbox include CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) which is like the workhorse of therapy tools. In addition, I am trained in the Gottman Method of couples counseling, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) among others. My approach is caring, compassionate, goal oriented, solution focused, and client centered.

I work with all age groups with concerns related to anxiety, anger management, unhealthy coping strategies, stress management, depression and relationships. I enjoy working with clients to increase their ability to regulate emotions, in order for them to be more successful in the home, work, school, or community. I have extensive therapy experience with children, adolescents and families. Children and adolescents, especially, can have overwhelming emotions, and benefit from guidance on how to cope. Additionally, I enjoy working with parents to provide strategies to increase positive behaviors in their child(ren).
