Greetings! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Georgia with over 10 years of experience in the behavioral health field. I have worked with all groups ranging from ages four to geriatric. I have also worked in various settings to include medical hospitals, psychiatric inpatient hospitals, outpatient treatment, court, and classroom settings. I have been able to provide support to clients experiencing depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, stress management, relationship issues, and life transitions. My counseling style is warm, non-judgmental, empathetic, and client-centered.

My passion is working with kids (10+), teenage girls, and young adult women facing challenges such as anxiety, sports performance, life changes, friendship struggles, depression, self-esteem, and perfectionistic tendencies. The clients I support are high-achieving, motivated, and goal-driven individuals who are often silently struggling on the inside. My goal is to assist clients in developing the skills and mindsets necessary to reach their full potential. I support my clients by offering them unconditional encouragement while building upon their strengths and talents.

I have 12 years experience helping people overcome and/or cope with relationship difficulties, ADHD, anxiety, anger, trauma and mood disorders. I like to use a variety of tools such as play, art and sandplay therapy.

My client centered approach includes narrative therapy, hope and family systems theory - genograms. I have over 17 years experience as a school counselor, I understand the school system. Mary Hansen is a Licensed Master of Social Work with 4 years of experience in the mental health field. She specializes in working with individuals facing anxiety and depression. In the past four years, she has worked both inpatient and outpatient roles, giving her a broad scope of how important mental health is for individuals. Mary’s goal is to work collaboratively with clients to give them the necessary tools and empower them to improve their lives. With a person-centered and strengths-based approach, she aims to create a safe space to explore the challenges they face.

When we don't feel safe, heard, accepted, or understood, our lives become more challenging. Our defense mechanisms, the behaviors we find hardest to change, become stronger, and our worries become louder. I assist those whose anxiety takes over at the worst possible moments. Say, at work, school, the grocery store, in the car, or home alone and nothing is working to calm down or make it stop. I walk along side those whose inner critic, insecurities, and low self-esteem has taken their life from them but can't pinpoint the cause or "why". I also work with those whose emotions are so overwhelming so they act out of character, overly people-please, fear rejection, and hide their true selves away.
