I am solution-focused, strength-based and believe you have the capacity to discover the best version of yourself and live a full and happy life.
Are you stuck? Worried about what direction you are going in and wondering why you struggle with relationships? I work with individuals who would like to explore their relationships, goals, communication skills and want to feel more satisfaction in their life journey. I have worked with folks who struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, anger and fear and understand we don't live in a bubble but in the structures of our lives (school, relationships, careers, communities, etc.)

If you ever find yourself asking “Who am I? What do I want? What do I need?” then you are not alone. Many of my clients struggle to answer these questions, and even more didn’t even know these were unanswered questions in their lives. Too often we try to give to others what we haven’t given ourselves, leaving us feeling even more disconnected from who we are. I love helping people to find themselves through the therapy process and explore parts of their lives they have never been empowered to explore.

As adults, we can carry many layers of stress. Stress that can take a toll on our mental and physical wellbeing, creating tension in our personal and professional experiences, and negatively impacting our quality of life. Often, when we are in this place of limited resiliency, we can find that anxiety and/or depression can take advantage and settle in. Or we find that our relationships or parenting can seem more challenging, leaving us feeling overwhelmed, exhausted or lost. If this is your experience, you're not alone. Together we can move through the stressors, build skills and resiliency; to find a path to peace and hope.

For over a decade, I’ve worked with individuals in some form of transition or major life change, often with trauma histories not too far below the surface. In each situation, I’ve found the most transformational interactions to be those rooted in both insight and somatic practices so it is a gift to craft a professional life at that precise intersection. Guided by genuine care and warmth, I support clients in gently attuning to the “data” stored in their body as a springboard to better understand, and compassionately respond to, core needs of safety, ease, worth, and authentic connection (with both self and others).

I am currently accepting new clients! Have you ever avoided doing things you loved because you’re worried about what others think? Have you experienced confusion and prejudice because of your identity? Has it negatively impacted your sleep, eating habits, or relationships? Living authentically can come at a cost to those with marginalized identities; the stress, fatigue, and fear that come with interacting with non-affirming people can ultimately shrink your world. The stories we tell ourselves about ourselves can shape beliefs about the world and our place in it.

I support adults feeling overwhelmed by the stress of day to day life, particularly through moments when it feels insurmountable. Everyone deserves space to process all they’re going through and I offer one where you can feel supported and heard, free from judgment. I work with individuals facing a range of challenges including anxiety, life transitions, managing challenging family relationships, and developing healthy boundaries, to name a few. We work together to uncover patterns and behaviors that leave you feeling stuck and find the moments when unkind thoughts and beliefs have taken the place of self-compassion.

For those seeking support for mental health challenges or addictions (perhaps with legal entanglements or wanting to work on getting your driver's license back), my approach offers non-judgmental active listening and feedback so the client knows they are being heard. I give them the space to tell me what they can about their struggles and goals. In addition to supportive problem solving, I work with clients to identify strengths and passions so they can begin building their self-care skills. These skills can be empowering to make meaningful change in their life.

Accepting new telehealth clients. I help clients understand more clearly what they want and how to move forward with more joy. As a mental health counselor, life & career coach, and therapeutic yoga teacher, I draw from a range of techniques to match the needs of each client.

Strength-Based Therapists

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
