Often those things in life that are most difficult are natural parts of life, known as givens – Freedom, Death, Isolation, Meaninglessness. Being confronted with these givens can create anxiety, which can lead to significant consequences. Everyone who looks for a therapist does it because there is something that is blocking their happiness. It might be something external that caused you to look, but you have it within you to set yourself free. Waiting for the world, your boss, your significant other to make things better for you gives someone else control over your happiness.

I believe that change is hard but not impossible. I work especially well with people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and spirituality. I work mainly through trauma-informed therapy, reality therapy, EMDR, and internal family systems therapy, though I am open to other approaches to counseling. Individuals and families are welcome in my office to receive empathetic and intentional mental health care. Although I am not able to prescribe medication, I understand it is often a major part of mental wellness and I can coordinate with any prescribing doctors who may already be part of your wellness team.

Our aim is to reward that courage by collaboratively working with clients towards reaching their goals. Our methods are individually tailored to each client based on their needs. Our therapists are trained as generalists and work wide array of issues ranging from stress management, chronic medical conditions, life transitions, and gender affirmations to more severe concerns such as trauma. We specialize in working with LGBTQ+ adults. We use the Informed Consent Model for gender-affirming surgery letters. Email us!

Throughout my life I have become so aware of the importance of having someone who will listen, someone who will offer compassion without judgment. Throughout my career I have strived to place that understanding in focus as I worked with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and the lifelong pains of trauma.

Are you constantly in battle with yourself? Or maybe you're out of those woods and it's time to start picking up the pieces but you aren't sure where to turn. You're stuck - just not where you want to be in your career, your relationships, in life in general. Often, when we take a step back from the mess, we're able to see more clearly. We're able to make decisions more clearly. We're able to simply "be." That journey is not one that you have to go on alone.

I love that there is always room for discovery in life. I see therapy as an avenue for self-exploration, creating movement, healing and growth. Life challenges and hardship can stall movement. This often leads to feeling anxious, afraid, angry, shameful, depressed and stuck. Therapy can be an effective tool in creating healthy resolution to issues that create suffering, deepening your awareness and self-acceptance, allowing you to experience more joy, peace, pleasure and authenticity in your life. My approach is person centered, creative, down to earth and often playful, respecting uniqueness and honoring the vulnerability necessary to be genuine.

While I often lean on attachment- and strength-based modalities, I appreciate that each client is unique and therefore tailor my approach to best fit the needs of each person.
I am passionate about helping clients develop stronger and happier relationships with themselves and their loved ones, as I believe the quality of these dynamics determines the quality of our lives. I enjoy working alongside individuals as we navigate the patterns and events of their past and present in the hopes of creating healthier and more fulfilling futures. I also enjoy working with couples to help them better understand how their individual patterns show up in their relationship, therefore deepening the connection with themselves and their partners.

Are you mentally drained, overwhelmed and just feeling lost right now? You're behaving outside yourself, life feels like it’s passing you by and you don't know who you are anymore. Maybe you’re a new mom, recently divorced or just staring over completely. Well I want you to know you're not alone, and there is hope for the future. I have a strong passion in working with and empowering women of all ages to rediscover the best version of themselves through healing, peace and positivity.

Are you ready for therapy? Looking for a therapist can feel overwhelming. My goal is to create a nonjudgmental, laidback, safe space where we can work together to tackle hard things. Strength-Based Therapists

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
