I can help you learn new, healthy behaviors and let go of hurtful thoughts and feelings using a strength-based, person-centered approach.
I work with individuals suffering from depression, substance abuse issues, anxiety, relationship problems, co-dependency, stress and other problems. I can help you develop coping skills and gain greater insight into core issues that may be impeding your success and happiness. I provide a safe space to explore your deepest thoughts and feelings with warmth and compassion. We all struggle at times and need help from others. Therapy can help you heal and find self acceptance and a more fulfilling life. We can't control the things that happen to us but we can find ways of moving forward in a healthy way with support and guidance.

I view my clients with a strength-based lens and utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, person-centered approaches.
During our lifetime we may come across struggles that require us to reach out for support outside of our regular networks. These struggles increase stress, depression, anxiety, and negative emotions that make daily life difficult. We have roles in our professions, school, social circles, parenting (just to name a few!) that are impacted by our inability to manage our emotions. But what feels like the impossible, is not. With therapeutic support, we can overcome our situations and discover new hope for ourselves.

The clinical emphasis of my work is focused on psychotherapy from the lens of trauma-informed care, strength-based, the connection with somatic practices and harm reduction.
Healing is a gift that emerges from seeds cultivated by struggle, broken borders, and bold dreams. I am a queer mental health practitioner in the Bay Area. My daily practice as a mental health clinician is guided and shaped by culturally relevant services imbued with an Indigenous approach to healing and medicine. My work is focused on trauma-trauma-informed care and recovery services for children, youth, adults, and families impacted by (im)migration, displacement, and other forms of oppression. We individualize and collaborate with the creation of your treatment plan of care tailored to the needs of each person. English & Spanish

My counseling style is warm and compassionate, emphasizing the importance of providing a safe, strength-based, and non-judgmental space.
Perhaps you are seeking a path of self-exploration or struggling with anxiety, depression or low self-esteem. You may need some additional time to talk and make some sense out the barriers to your personal goals. Or you may desire to learn practical skills to cope with your pain. Every person is unique, which means that our time together would be tailored to your particular needs based on cultural background, family dynamics and personal values. Either way, I will be present with you and assist you as you journey toward a meaningful life.

I believe we all come into this world being enough as we are but sometimes there are challenges, losses, difficulties, or behaviors that get in the way of what you may be wanting or where you want to be in your life. Together, we can build insight and understanding and work towards making the changes you want to see.

My approach is strength-based, interactive and goal-oriented.
Deciding to start therapy is a sign of strength. I believe all people have a natural inclination toward growth and wholeness and sometimes things get in the way. Exploring these obstacles with compassion and courage can help you cultivate the most important relationship of your life -- your relationship with yourself. Whether your challenge is depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationships, addictions or career challenges, all you need to get started is the desire to change.

I believe that the power of vulnerability is one of our greatest strengths and ultimately can provide us with a deeper sense of self, security, comfort, and more compassionate towards one another. Coming from a strength-based form of doing therapy and providing support to others, I work to provide my clients with a sense of validation and comfort. As a cis male that identifies as Latinx and as a proud member of the LGBTQIA community, I am able to hold the experience of living in many diverse, cross-cultural emotional experiences that we sometimes may not even know how to begin to understand.

I have experience working through a psychodynamic, trauma-focused, strength-based approach, and have utilized DBT, CBT and ACT throughout my work with clients.
As a queer Black Arab immigrant, I recognize the importance of how social identities can have a great impact on someone's mental health. Even navigating the mental health system can be exhausting and at times disappointing. In my practice, I aim to provide a safe space for people who often struggle to find one due to systemic and social injustices. I assist people in the healing of their trauma and processing difficult experiences as they navigate living in a society that is in itself in need of healing. I am passionate about my work and love being present with my clients through their journey of healing and self-discovery.

I believe self care is one of the most important tools to maintain mental wellbeing, so I emphasize mental wellness through prioritizing your needs. Practicing change and use of healthy outlets helps individuals cope with stress, keep you grounded, happy and enable the best version of yourself. The challenges of daily stressors lead to feeling helpless and loss of sense of self. The clients I work with are searching for self awareness and identity and want to achieve a sense of peace and stability. These individuals want to gain self autonomy and mental wellness for the purpose of tranquility and whole health.

Strength-Based Therapists

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
