Life's challenges are hard to take on by yourself and I enjoy helping others move through their journey, discover their strengths, and reach their goals. I love partnering with my Therapy Dog, Rio, and my horses for experiential learning and psychotherapy.

Psychotherapy is much more than the removal of symptoms. I help individuals embrace their lives! I work with adults whose lives have been impacted by trauma. I also specialize in working with "seniors" experiencing the changes and challenges that often occur in later life. Finally, with four and a half decades in the mental health field, along with years of advanced education, I have gained an understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals who experience issues relating to gender and substance abuse.

Life is a series of shifts - its inevitable. My purpose is to help you navigate those, heal, grow, thrive, and live with passion.

Today was hard. Waking up thinking “how soon can I go back to sleep.” Sometimes you find yourself questioning if you really want to live. You feel so alone and wonder how no one else sees your pain. All day at work you fake a smile. You make excuses to not do the hobbies you once loved. You just don’t feel like yourself anymore. Nothing seems to excite you. Reminders of the past are keeping you from moving forward. You just want to feel different.

I believe in creating a safe emotional space for healing and growth. I believe that growth and healing is within the person. I am here to help guide that growth through empowerment, various techniques and the bond that is established in the relationship. I believe that empathy, humor and honesty are essential to healing. Sometimes we feel blocked or held back in our life due to depression, trauma, relationship problems, limiting beliefs, or we just feel as though we are not achieving our full potential. I believe that not one technique works all the time and that a combination of various techniques is valuable.

I believe an excellent therapist meets every client where they’re at. Navigating this world with presence and grace is more accessible and meaningful with someone to help process your experiences. We all need someone to talk to sometimes, and I strive to create an integrated and unique safe space for each client to unfold their narratives, fears, hopes and discover their untapped resources. Many people grapple with traumatic stress. It can interfere with our lives, relationships, and overall well-being. Ignoring or suppressing it may be tempting but will only make it worse.

I listen and reflect to help people become aware and transform negative thought patterns, and to identify and release emotional and negative thoughts that promote feeling "stuck." I'm a nature-based therapist who works with those struggling with attachment wounds, grief, identity & spiritual emergencies/distress, sexuality, PTSD, self-worth, depression, anxiety, and difficult life transitions. I am dedicated to anti-oppression work both personally & professionally. I hold a social justice lens in my work and don't shy away from acknowledging the profound psycho-spiritual impacts that the dominant culture has had on all of us, especially those who have been marginalized.
