My clinical style involves strength-based approaches to help my clients feel supported while incorporating evidence-based practices and providing direct feedback and guidance.
There are many reasons to seek therapy, and I consider it an honor to support clients during this courageous journey. I work hard to provide a nurturing, non-judgmental space where it is safe to be vulnerable, and I help my clients feel empowered to make changes towards growth and healing. Having specialized training and fifteen years experience as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I believe in the power of relationships and the transformative experience of feeling truly accepted and seen. It can feel scary to open up, and I can support you by collaborating with you throughout the process.

My strength-based, holistic, and integrative approach is tailored to resonate with your unique journey.
I believe that everyone deserves equality, love, and respect. Feeling loved and accepted for our true selves plays a major part in our health and happiness. All of us want to be ourselves, but sometimes it feels uncomfortable. Other times, we don't take the time to discover and embrace who we truly are. That's okay! Together, we can explore your authentic self, grow your self- esteem, utilize healthy coping skills, and uncover unhealthy generational patterns. Give yourself permission to finally meet your higher self!

None of us should have to face life’s journey alone. As we grow and enter new stages of life, things that worked for us in the past may no longer serve us well. Sometimes the challenges of life call for new responses. Counseling can be an opportunity to explore the rules, boundaries, and expectations that we have acquired over time and consider new possibilities. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate, supervised by Megan Krizan.

I work with couples to address communication differences and past hurts that were never fully repaired. Our past experiences often influence how we interact with our partners today. I strive to create a safe space where curiousity, empathy, and genuine connection are at the forefront of therapy as we take the time we need to build a sturdy foundation for change. I see it as my role to acknowledge the complexities of your relationship while providing support as you heal and build a stronger bond for the future.

I enjoy working with couples and adult individuals from a collaborative, strengths-based approach. My focus is on helping clients to build positive relationships and find personal growth in the process. I believe that everyone has the potential to make positive change in their lives, and I see my role as walking alongside them in their journey towards this change. I also believe that many of us have trouble expressing our true, authentic selves, but that once we feel safe to do so, we thrive both individually and within our relationships. I work to create a safe space for clients to explore this authentic self.

My main goal is to work on what YOU want to work on. I will provide you a sounding board and listen intently and when you are ready, I will encourage you to explore other ways/means/ideas to improve the situation. The hardest work to do is often the most important and the only way to initiate change in our lives. Sometimes we all need a nudge towards problem-solving.

Strength-Based Therapists

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
