My ideal client is one who comes to counseling feeling like they are drifting and lost. They may have just gone through a difficult transition or loss or have had that awareness for the first time that their emotions are taking over their life and their relationships. Watching them make sense of their journey, gain skills and realizations, put them into practice, and see positive results (I call them lightbulb moments) is one of my greatest joys as a counselor. In short, they watch a world that felt like it was falling apart become more beautifully integrated into a lesson of discovery and direction.
My role is to encourage, to challenge, to be a mirror, and to be an active listener. I love to step into their world, share in their journey, and through listening, sharing, and reflecting offer a constructive mechanism for steps in a more productive, functional direction. I'm a bit introspective and work well with individuals who aren't afraid to reflect.
I see every person as a beautiful mosaic with a unique story to tell. I consider it a privilege that my clients allow me to be a part of their journey. As a Christian, I take walking out my faith seriously which means serving others who are hurting or in need of help. I see my work as ministry and my mission is to help anyone who walks through my door.
