I emphasize a collaborative approach aimed at bringing the desired change. As a clinical social worker, I have been trained to utilize a person-in-environment approach and examine all variables impacting a client's life. I treat individuals 18 and over that might be struggling with mood disorders including depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
I utilize an eclectic approach that incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) as well as Dialectical Behavioral and Therapy and Schema Therapy. My clients say that I provide a supportive, trauma-informed environment where they feel comfortable to engage in therapeutic work.
We discuss goal setting in the first few sessions. Typically, I ask clients to tell me how they would want to be different as a result of therapy, and this assist with the process of defining goals. In the first session, I would want to have them ask me any questions they might have and discuss what brings them to therapy.
