About
The foundation for any therapy I do involves three primary types of therapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS). Detailed descriptions for both approaches are provided under “Types of Therapy.” In addition to these, I include a third type of therapy known as Effortless Mindfulness-Based Therapy (EMBT), with dovetails well with ACT and IFS. EMBT promotes mindfulness with the premise that wellbeing is achieved by shifting into a level of mind that is always calm, alert and available, rather than calming the mind, changing our thoughts or adjusting attitudes.
If client’s need to address a history of trauma or adverse childhood experiences, EMDR is a fourth approach that may be used (see “Types of Therapy”). Not all clients require EMDR, but in many cases EMDR can also be used to treat symptoms that are not related to trauma. The effectiveness of EMDR is enhanced by the other approaches I use.
For clients who are interested, I offer intensive therapy sessions, which are focused sessions that are longer than the standard therapy hour. They tend to be more effective and efficient, which can reduce the overall time one spends in therapy and can reduce the overall cost. Feel free to inquire for more information.
