Steve N. Du Bois
Psychologist, PhD, LCP
Let's work together to improve the way you think, feel, and experience life! My goal is to collaborate with my clients to identify areas of improvement, and then simultaneously to support and challenge them throughout their process of change. I help clients identify their ineffective cognitive, emotional, and behavioral patterns, and then collaboratively design strategies to interrupt and replace these patterns with more effective ones. My hope is that my clients will become their own therapist over time, and I help provide them with the structure, strategies, and tools to do that. I look forward to working with you!
I use multiple therapeutic styles supported by research. Primarily I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, which targets ineffective patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; intervenes on these patterns; and, replaces them with more effective ones. I believe in change! But, change takes work, and I'm here to help you with that work.
I am a Psychology Professor who believes we are all, simultaneously, teachers and learners. Accordingly I aim to teach, and learn from, my clients. My therapeutic and teaching styles are similar - supportive and interactive. I believe therapy is about educating clients with tools they need to experience life more happily.
