Anxiety on its own can be extremely challenging. To make matters more difficult, it often also comes with sleep difficulties or depression, which can make daily life an exhausting and frustrating experience. The good news is that with the correct approach, it is usually possible to make significant progress in a short period of time. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, and related difficulties (including panic attacks, OCD, generalized anxiety, phobias, PTSD, and others). I have a particular specialty in the treatment of insomnia and sleep related disorders.
I take a strengths-based, positive psychology approach to cognitive behavioral therapy with a focus both on relieving distress and improving overall well-being.
I was a musician in my former life. However, in my late 20s, my passions shifted, and a Ph.D. came calling. For 15 years, I served as a professor at Wagner College, where my research and teaching focused on sleep, psychopathology, irrational beliefs, and positive psychology. I now am fortunate to enjoy life as a full-time therapist.
