Honesty, Authenticity, Reality. This is how I would define my style of counseling. I received my specialty training in cognitive-behavioral therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I have developed a style that is down to earth, which focuses on working with the skills that an individual already possesses, while developing the abilities they need to bring them to the next level. I address the "here and now" while working on other skills that can/should be develop in the future. Reaching out can be hard to do but it is important.
I have over 19 years of experience counseling individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues. My specialities include first responders, correctional staff, and medical personnel. I am trained in EMDR, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
I truly believe everyone can be helped by therapy and that mental health is as important as physical health. Working on issues can take time but the best treatment is the therapeutic relationship, which can open up to other underlining issues that may have hindered your personal growth.
