Everyone who comes to counseling is experiencing some form and level of fear- whether they are fully aware of it or not. The capacity for fear serves to protect us- but limits as well. Many experience anger and not the underlying fears. Fears can lead to counter-productive behaviors that hurt the self or others in forms of passing up opportunities, as self-sabotage, and avoiding or ending relationships. It is rewarding to help people to identify, address and work through self-imposed or other-imposed limits, have healthy boundaries, achieve their goals and find deeper meaning in life.
Where are you stuck? The obstacles to your goals are either internal (counterproductive thinking, limited emotional/behavior control), or external (people and situations that won't support your goals.) I help you see or more clearly see what is keeping you stuck. I use a compassionate balance of challenge and support that can free you to move forward.
29 years clinical practice. I am a court appointed evaluator doing Parenting Time Evaluations, emotional regulation/anger/aggression therapy. I ran a state approved treatment group for domestic violence perpetrators for six years, ID state agency mediations and worked extensively with sexuality issues. I value helping couples reconnect through counseling.
