Hello and welcome! I’m excited that you are considering therapy, whether it is to improve your mood, solve a problem in your life, address difficult experiences from your past, or perhaps build your confidence or further develop your sense of self. I believe therapy involves science and art. It is a collaborative process where we work together, with you as the expert of your experience and me supporting you with evidence-based, researched approaches and strategies that can help you accomplish your goals. I see my role as a practitioner as supporting you to heal and grow, and to ultimately become your own therapist.
I have extensive experience and interests, but my focus right now is on working from an EMDR approach to heal difficult past experiences and trauma. I have found EMDR to be an incredibly powerful approach to addressing a range of difficulties, particularly difficult experiences from the past (and the patterns we can get stuck repeating as a result of them).
I also have specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy and extensive experience working with substance use and addiction. I have a special interest in supporting individuals who have been marginalized, including individuals who identify as LGBTQ+/queer. If you think we might be a good fit or you would like to learn more, please get in touch!
