I work with clients ages 12 and up, and have experience counseling those with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, addiction and substance abuse, and personality and bipolar disorders. I am passionate about helping people work through the variety of issues that keep them from thriving in life. I have received training in how trauma affects the body and Polyvagal Theory. Additionally, I have completed levels 1, 2, and 3 of the Gottman Marriage Counseling Method; Gottman Professional Training: "Treating Affairs and Trauma", directly from John and Julie Gottman; and "Couples and Addiction Recovery".
My approach to therapy depends on the person themselves and their specific needs. However, I've found that most people are really helped by either Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Schema Therapy, or a combination of those. Also, as the client wishes, I incorporate Biblical principles as needed or requested.
My colleagues at Sycamore Counseling and I also strongly believe in consistent growth and improvement as therapists and are committed to learning and becoming better therapists. We work individually and as a team to gain knowledge in all areas of therapy and grow in our abilities. I am taking steps and intend to receive more training in EFT and DBT.
