I have a warm and relational style with my patients. This means I won't sit in silence staring at you the whole session. While I believe in allowing enough space for you to explore your own thoughts, I tend to be more of an active therapist.
For me, psychotherapy is a unique type of relationship that facilitates emotional growth and integration of past patterns. I believe that when we feel accurately seen and understood (without judgment and criticism!) it can be relieving and energizing.
I view therapy as a two-person process; the empathetic therapeutic relationship enables us to risk exposing our deepest vulnerabilities (without shame!) Therapy loosens the grip of unconscious patterns of relating and meaning-making that cause us pain. I hope to provide this hopeful and vitalizing experience for my patients.
