Thriving in families today is truly challenging. Family stress also tends to intensify during those sensitive periods of transition, especially where children are affected. My practice specializes in assisting parents navigate the complexities of divorce, co-parenting, re-marriage, and the creation of new stepfamilies. I also help families with adult children heal from estrangement, whether it is from a sibling or parent. When working with recently-divorced parents, I feel it is important to take a child-centered focus, where children are often caught in the middle of these adult battlegrounds.
Sometimes couples are faced with the painful question of whether to stay in their marriage or ultimatley decide to separate. Complex and harsh realities can also accompany these strong, conflicting emotions. The process of divorce discernment offers a structured protocol where the couple is free to openly explore the next path in the relationship.
My husband and I have successfully raised five children in our own blended family for the past 20 years, so giving back to others is more than my job- it's my calling. Combining this passion, along with the necessary training in both stepfamily and co-parenting therapy techniques, can help elicit positive changes and bring about peace within your stepfamily.
