About
I work with adults, with an emphasis on recovery from emotional, physical and sexual abuse or neglect, recovery from abuse trauma and post-traumatic growth. Trauma survivors often develop creative coping strategies, including dissociation, in order to tolerate abuse and to develop internal resources. These coping strategies are critical to survival and are well-respected in our therapeutic relationship. I also work with circumstances where there is an imbalance of power and lack of recognition of the individual's right to respect and dignity. I strongly believe that every person has the right to be treated with respect in all aspects of life.
My mission is to help individuals discover their own worth and dignity. I have a strengths-based approach, which encourages clients to discover their own inner resiliency and outward resources. I find it important to work collaboratively with my clients to identify challenges, establish goals, and to bring clarity through kindness.
Stacy holds a Master's Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University. She returned to school later in life to become a licensed therapist, after working as a pastoral and hospice caregiver for over 20 years, responding to a variety of life crises and challenges.
