I am a passionate wellbeing leader who understands the importance of self-care in order to get the most out life. My unique background has allowed me to work with disabled patients in rehab programs, serve as a coordinator of wrap-around services for children with special needs, and gain experience in corporate positions that require attention to detail and demand work-life balance. This journey has taught me to be empathetic to my client's circumstances. I have a client-centered approach that considers every aspect of their lives, and meet each person where they are in their mental wellness journey.

I've had a diverse background in business, professional sports, corporate training, management consulting, the chaplaincy, bariatrics, pain management, addiction, psychophysiology, behavioral medicine, neurofeedback and photobiomodulation. Harville Hendrix of "Getting the Love You Want" was my supervisor for 8 years. Hence, I truly enjoy a wide range of issues and personalities. I'm compassionate but direct in my style and often described as "Dr. Phil, with a heart". I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker with three years of experience providing individual and group therapy to a wide variety of people through various settings. I earned my Bachelors in American Indian Studies at UCLA and my Masters in Clinical Social Work through a Trauma Responsive program of study at the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice. I am also an enrolled member of the Los Coyotes Band of Cahuilla and Cupeño Indians.

I am a licensed psychologist with over 15 years of experience, primarily in higher education settings. My practice focuses on working with diverse people who are navigating life transitions and demands, particularly those connected to their identity and sense of self. I believe each of us is shaped through our life experiences, both positive and painful. Therapy is an opportunity to explore these experiences, especially if you are feeling unfulfilled or questioning your life’s purpose and meaning. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults helping them get through difficult transitions in their lives. I do a lot of work challenging people to explore their aggression, self-harming behaviors, drugs and alcohol use, suicidal ideations, depression and anxiety. I also enjoy working with adults dealing with life transitions and helping them improve their moods and perspectives on life.

While active listening is an important skill for a therapist, listening can only go so far. Welcome to our world of pediatric therapy, where we're all about nurturing children to blossom into confident, independent individuals. We offer services for children and adolescents with different developmental disabilities including Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Sensory Processing Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Learning Difficulties, Emotional Regulation, Motor Skills and Coordination, and Language Disorder. Dustin works with individual adults and couples to address a wide range of needs, such as better understanding and managing reactive emotions that lead to negative interaction patterns and conflict. Navigating through grief and loss, work-life, balance, perfectionism, and motivation. Learning parenting skills/strategies, parenting a child on the autism spectrum or with ADHD. Management of adult ADHD symptoms and developing novel coping skills to emerging needs through stage of life changes. My client's goals are to understand why they feel the way they do and to improve communication and intimacy.

As a Christian, my faith offers a strong compass for all I do. As a clinical psychologist, school psychologist, and veteran with 6 degrees in psychology and 27 years of experience (20 with Gwinnett County Public Schools), this compass has been pivotal in helping others. I specialize in two areas: (1) Psychological or "psycho-educational" evaluations to enhance success in school, college, or career path; and (2) A highly specialized therapy-based martial arts program for children that decades of closely supervised research have found effective for improving attention, self-control, and classroom performance (see "Groups" below).
