I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families on the following: Improving moods and reducing anxiety, developing healthy relationships, increasing self-esteem, coping with tragic loss, trauma, moving through life transitions and endings, coping with divorce, sports related injuries/or performance, academic or employment achievement, addictions, self defeating behaviors.
Sometimes life presents us with overwhelming, painful challenges. If you are experiencing unwanted symptoms such as anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or are coping with painful loss through death, divorce, illness/injury or life transitions; I will help you move through these difficult, painful challenges. If you want to improve upon an already successful life, we will work to improve it. I provide a warm and safe, non-judgmental environment. Through the process you will develop inner strength and resiliency; you will learn to take a pro-active stance in choosing and creating the life you desire.

My credentials are: 1- Certified Supervisor and Therapist in Emotionally Focused Therapy 2- Jungian Therapy 3- Addiction Therapy..We all want to live happy and passionate lives. Change is inevitable, but it can be hard. When you suffer from anxiety, depression, or addiction life will feel unmanageable. And, relationships can be so hard. We all want them but they can be so triggering. I believe therapy is a gift to your heart, mind, and soul. Therapy should be a tool to help you achieve the life what you want to live. I love what I do, and I look forward to speaking with you.

I believe counseling can facilitate learning how to deeply heal from what has wounded us, and what may still be hurting us. Dr. Steven C. Hayes suggests “we hurt where we care and care where we hurt”. Paradoxically, pain is often deeply connected to the values of the heart. Therapy is often re-connecting or discovering our own values – qualities of being and doing – is an ongoing process of implementing larger and larger values-based patterns through trial and error.

At the center of my practice is the belief that we all must learn how to experience the discomfort of feeling and processing difficult emotions. It feels uncomfortable to set boundaries, hold ourselves accountable, hold others accountable, work through our personal struggles with self-love, identify our own maladaptive patterns, and live authentically. In discovering and cultivating the authentic version of ourselves, we all must learn to push through the discomfort of vulnerability. I love working as hard as my clients to support them through that discomfort so they can grow through that difficult process!

Taking the initial step to go to therapy isn’t an easy one. You may be feeling hurt, unsafe, scared, exhausted, lonely, or even desperate. The list is endless. You finally gathered the courage to seek for help and really hope to find a welcoming therapist that will make you feel safe and accepted as you are. I hope to create that kind of welcoming and safe environment for you, because I believe that when these conditions are present, healing is much more likely to occur.

Do you want more out of life but something is holding you back? The connection may be subtle, but the things that happened to you a long time ago may continue to effect you today. Have you lost your passion? Are you tense all the time, always on edge, maybe you struggle to get through the day because your anxiety is so bad. Replaying the same painful moments over and over again; it is interfering with your day to day life; it’s exhausting. Your friends and family may not understand what you are going through but I do. Maybe you know the direction you need to go but don’t know how to remove the hidden barriers. I can teach you how.

Functional Therapy is a wrap-around, holistic method including analysis of one's sleep, exercise, dietary, recreating and stress-juggling patterns. A tuned-up body/brain can significantly facilitate cognitive/emotive progress. A kaizen approach to change allows real-world, practical strategies for growth in a short time-frame. Some issues may take longer, yet with a brief, solution-focused approach many clients reach their goals within a few meetings. My approach is down-to-earth, unorthodox, humorous when needed and with gentle, yet straight-forward feedback building on strengths and resiliency you already possess.

When a person sits on my couch and says, "I'm ready to change," I often respond with, "I'm ready to help." Change is difficult. It takes work. But it happens. Giving time and space to your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can give you a toolkit to adapt memories of the past and craft the future you've always wanted. Sometimes I think the job of a psychologist is to reduce suffering from mental illness, but more and more it's helping people thrive amidst adversity; to flourish in their life. If you want to reduce the anxiety and stress of the people closest to you, you need to thrive. You need to succeed. And I'm here to help.

Sports Performance Therapists
How does sports psychology work?
Sports psychology helps athletes identify and overcome challenges, such as perfectionism or a fear of failure, and improve key mental skills, such as confidence or concentration. By applying principles and techniques from psychology, such as goal-setting, visualization, positive self-talk, and emotion regulation, sports psychologists help athletes improve their performance on the field and their well-being overall.
How long does treatment for a sports-related problem take?
The duration of sports psychology treatment depends on the athlete’s individual challenges, goals, the complexity of the interventions used, and even on the length of the season. A performance anxiety issue may be treated with a short-term treatment, like Cognitive behavioural therapy, while issues such as depression, substance abuse, or severe anxiety may require longer-term treatments.
How effective is treatment for sports performance problems?
Sports psychology has been shown to improve performance and help athletes manage their emotions. Sports psychology can be effective in boosting performance, team dynamics, and injury rehabilitation. Over the past decade, nearly every professional sports team in every major sport has added a sports psychologist to its staff. Many colleges have done the same, and even some high school programs have done the same. Olympic hopefuls may consult with sports psychologists starting in elementary school.
What are the limitations of sports psychology?
Sports psychology may have several limitations. Every athlete is unique and may respond differently to sports psychology treatments. Therapy can help an athlete reach their potential; it can help athletes cope with injury and pain, but it cannot change the physical limitations that may be affecting an athlete’s performance.
