I specialize in the integration of spirituality and psychology, and received post-graduate training in many spiritual and religious traditions.
Integral Psychotherapy, which is holistic and transformational, is a mind-body-spirit approach that deepens self-awareness and well-being. My approach is positive and supportive, bringing out our innate potentials for growth and healing. We shed the false self and align with our true nature, which is love. The Self-Inquiry Process is an experiential guide to awakening that can be used as an adjunct to therapy.

Hi, if you are looking for a open minded, warm, & hard working therapist then I might be just the fit for you. I'm an English & Spanish speaking clinical social worker who works with adults, young adults and some teens. My practice focuses primarily on healing anxiety, depression, & trauma throughout life. I'm interested in taking an integrative approach to therapy by combining clients needs with traditional Western psychology such as: talk therapy, play therapy, art therapy, internal family systems (IFS), & nature therapy with ancient Eastern traditions such as meditation & Tibetan Buddhism.

My work focuses on anxiety, trauma, medical issues, pain, and introducing spirituality into practice.
I believe that therapy can develop non-judgmental awareness of what is in the present, of thoughts and feelings that are based on conditioned reactions from the past, and of the ability to then cultivate the inner freedom that allows each client to move into a future grounded in experience and directed at a positive and compassionate understanding of self and others. Developing the ability to be aware is a practice that each client learns and practices according to their presenting needs, interests, and learning styles. There is no ideal client, there is only the commitment to practice awareness and find freedom from the past.

Together, we use spirituality as a foundation for resilience and personal growth.
My journey into therapy began in my early years, shaped by the experience of immigrating to the USA as an infant. Learning English before my parents, I became a bridge between cultures, an experience that nurtured my empathy and understanding — essential qualities in my therapeutic work. My path has been guided by a calling to serve others, intertwining my faith with my professional skills.

Working with individuals and couples, I respond to each person's unique personality, history and needs in order to bring about the desired changes.

I’ve worked with people across the spectrum of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic background, and have a particular interest in working with individuals undergoing life transitions, grief/loss, or chronic/terminal illness; exploring their spirituality; or struggling with identity, relationship, and body image issues.
Do you feel lost, overwhelmed, confused, isolated? Maybe it feels like your life is spinning out of control, but you can barely find time to catch your breath. Your sessions with me will be an opportunity to slow down…breathe…and develop a deeper awareness of your body, mind, heart, and soul. This process is incredibly rewarding. It’s also challenging, which is why I’m here to be your guide as we collaborate to create your unique path to self-knowledge, self-acceptance, and transformation. I'm committed to providing a space that is safe, open, and judgment-free, within which you'll learn to trust your own instinctive knowledge.

Our work together may include mind-body practice, meditation, movement and spirituality.
I will provide you with presence, openness and a genuine commitment to healing. If you are reading this you may be considering facing a problem in your life. This takes courage and a willingness to face something that is real and present. I have been most drawn to the view that we are shaped by our unconscious being and the decisions we make are greatly influenced by things we are not even aware of. Knowing this can help us be gentle and kind with ourselves as we approach the therapeutic process.

I deeply enjoy working with queer and TGNC people, artists and writers, people exploring spirituality as a healing resource, and individuals who’ve had difficulty finding non-judgmental mental health care.
I believe everyone has the innate capacity to heal, and approach therapy as a way of counteracting the influence of systems of oppression that can stand in the way of self-acceptance, embodiment, and connecting with others. I work with a variety of challenges to connection and wellbeing, including anxiety, self-worth, interpersonal relationships, gender and sexuality, trauma (CPTSD, intergenerational, identity-related), and integrating difficult emotions.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
