I believe that each individual/family/couple has the skills within themselves to work through problems in their lives. My practice is based on anti-oppressive principles & embodied awareness. I work with people of all sexualities & genders to address depression, anxiety, life transitions, chronic pain, family conflict, relationship issues, self-esteem, & trauma using a holistic approach to healing. I have expertise in addressing sexual violence & the traumatic effects of systems (racism, sexism, homophobia etc). I encourage clients to nurture their inner voice, to gently observe what happens in the present moment, & to engage actively in the therapeutic process. My practice is poly, kink & sex worker affirming.

With over 20 years of professional experience treating depression, anxiety, relationship issues and struggles with food, weight, body image, and disordered eating, I believe all mental health symptoms are there for reasons. Our work is to uncover those reasons and discover more effective means of caring for self. Exploring family dynamics, life experiences, personal beliefs, and both conscious and unconscious aspects of Self are all part of the therapeutic process. In therapy we work with the conscious and unconscious material which surfaces in the psychotherapy room as well as bringing attention to thought and behavior patterns, developing insights, and strategizing solutions.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate. I spent 30 years in the community newspaper industry, working and managing my family-owned community newspaper in Roxboro, North Carolina. In May of 2020, I graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with an MA in Christian Marriage, Family, and Individual Counseling. Having benefited from mental health and relationship counseling, I desire to assist clients of all ages and backgrounds in improving their mental and relational health.
