Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Relationship/Sexual Issues, Pornography, Anger, Life Changes, Career, LGBTQ+ Issues, and Faith/Spirituality are issues I often address. My approach is practical and nonjudgmental, primarily from Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Reality/Choice perspectives. For couples, I'm trained in Gottman Method, the most research-based model for marriage and couples therapy. Office, video, and phone sessions may be options during the COVID pandemic.

Charlotte is a strengths based clinician who is supportive, compassionate, and non- judgmental. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and incorporates this treatment modality into her work when she finds appropriate. 
Charlotte feels as though the best treatment and healing happens when there is collaboration between therapist and client and when they work together as a team. She believes that true wellness and healing happens when mental health, and emotional health are in congruence.

I have found that we all need a safe place where we can be encouraged, empowered, heard, and healed without judgment. As a therapist, I understand how grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, and other life experiences can transform our lives or the way we look at life. I believe therapy to be a joint effort between the therapist and the client and I enjoy working with clients to provide a supportive place where they can find freedom.

I have over 11 years experience in substance use recovery. I began working in the addiction/recovery field over 8 1/2 years ago. I have helped many individuals with life skills and walked with them as they made positive changes in their recovering life. Including exploring hobbies, interests and learning how to laugh and smile again. While also working with them on how to build support in their community. Ultimately creating space for these moving parts to come together and form a sustainable recovery lifestyle.

Most challenges we face as humans are "normal" as opposed to there being something "wrong" with us. However, we can often feel alone and overwhelmed when facing problems. Talking to a caring person can make a difference. I believe it helps to have an objective, knowledgeable and wise coach to help you find your way. I like to use analogies and work as a team with a client.

I work with individuals suffering from depression and anxiety; I specialize in working with couples (married or not) and families. Individuals I work with struggle with life's issues (divorce, financial, health, relational) to mood disorders. Typically their goal is to "feel better" or to "fix their relationship". My promise is to work diligently to assist them in achieving their goals using various methods in which to do so.

Every problem has solutions, therapy has you consider those solutions, which in turn transforms your life. I find that people labor too long over whether or not to start a cycle of therapy. I encourage you to explore your curiosity about the therapeutic process.

At Sanctuary Counseling Group, we believe in creating therapeutic relationships with our clients that promote the healing of heart, mind, and soul. When working with trauma survivors, my theoretical orientation is based on cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and existential therapy techniques, as well as the 3-Stage Trauma Recovery model developed by Dr. Janet Hansen. Dr. Hansen’s model focuses on helping the patient develop safety and stability before addressing traumatic memories. A focus on the mind and body is an important component of my work with clients.

I use research based strategies and interventions to help people who are experiencing things like, work stress and burnout, relationship problems, adjustment issues to life changes, grief and bereavement, low self esteem, anxiety, depression, and spiritual frustration. I offer a relaxed counseling environment where we work collaboratively to create and move toward personalized mental health goals, often using practical interventions to make positive changes. I love working with others who feel misunderstood or as if they have always been an outsider in their own lives. I enjoy assisting couples with identifying the strengths in their unique differences and how the opposite attractions they have to each other is what makes the dynamic passion they have between them, even if it’s passionate fighting in the current cycle. I desire to provide adolescents the opportunity to be heard and seen by their parents as the strong, intelligent, wise beyond their years individuals they truly are, while also allowing them to have the safety net their parents choose to provide so they can succeed.

Sometimes life throws us lemons, and prioritizing our self-care and mental health helps us cope! I enjoy supporting others through individual and group therapy, parent coaching, and comprehensive evaluations. For individual therapy I work with both male and female clients, ages 7 through college, and parents. My therapeutic approach incorporates Positive Psychology (e.g., compassion, gratitude, mindfulness, and resilience to stress), as well as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other forms of treatment.
