You already know yourself very well. And because of this- You are looking for a different kind of therapy space. You are seeking a space in which you can find humor, grace, and wonder while navigating this human experience. One in which your intuition, spirituality, and inner knowing will be honored and used as a tool to transform your lived experience. A space where context matters and is used to create new perspectives and deeper understanding. A space to unpack your stories, unravel your deepest beliefs, and become friends (yes… I said friends) with your inner shadowy parts.

I specialize in working with adults navigating anxiety (including people pleasing and perfectionism), trauma, & spirituality issues (including religious trauma, & deconstruction).
Are you struggling to stay present while your thoughts are racing constantly in your head? It feels difficult to juggle all the things on your to-do list and you’re struggling to keep your head above water. Maybe you take care of everyone else’s needs and it feels like you’re losing yourself, but you don’t know how to say “no.” You might be at a crossroads, trying to navigate personal beliefs amid questions & confusion. Your feelings could be related to something that happened to you and you don’t know how to get rid of the painful reminders. It’s like you’re ready to move forward, but you feel stuck trying to take that first step.

I support long-term couples struggling with conflict and disconnection who may feel unsure how to solve their challenges or rekindle their loving dynamic. I help couples improve communication skills, identify and express underlying vulnerable emotions, and ultimately deepen their intimacy and romantic connection. I also support folks with dysfunctional family and/or religious histories, who are interested in alternative healing approaches. This may entail witnessing the pain and patterns of the past, and then potentially reclaiming and reimagining their relationship with spirituality.

I know it can be scary to ask for help but, my primary goal is to meet you where you are without posing any judgment. Life is relational. From our first breath to our last, we are in relation to someone or something. Oftentimes, our suffering can be traced back to feeling stuck in our ways of relating, finding that no matter who or what we’re relating to, we feel anxious, depressed, unheard, or unloved. It can be helpful to pause and observe how our relationships and general patterns of relating are constraining or frustrating our lives in some way. Themes that I enjoy working with are anxiety, depression, grief, developmental trauma, relationship issues, doubt, faith, meaninglessness, spirituality, family of origin issues, dreaming, and meditation

In our therapeutic work I will support you to develop a strong positive relationship with yourself, which is your foundation for thriving in every other area of your life: partnership, friendship, family, work, creativity, spirituality.
I believe that we live in challenging times. Many people find it difficult to feel confident and self assured, have peaceful, fulfilling relationships, navigate the demands of finances, family, work and home, and also focus on nourishing self care. These challenges are interconnected. They are related to how we have developed our sense of self in the context of family expectations and experiences, societal demands, cultural assumptions, and media influence. It is necessary for all of us to learn how to live our best lives in these particular circumstances. You are not alone.

The three main perspectives that inform my work are a Depth perspective (Dreams, Unconscious, Jungian), Somatic perspective (Hakomi, Mindfulness, Body Awareness), and Transpersonal psychology (Eco-psychology, Spirituality, Community).
We each have an innate wholeness. Our work is centered around connecting you to this wholeness. Health is not just being able to have positive experiences, but to be able to move through the range of human experiences without getting stuck in one over another. In this way, I view health as the ability for movement – whether that be psychologically, energetically, or within a system. The ability to move and adapt without getting stuck is essential for our well-being. It is my intention to help call forth your Unknown Self – so that you may move through life in your wholeness. It is a true honor to get to do this work.

I have been a therapist many years; working with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, relationship and family issues, self-esteem, masculinity, gender and sexuality, identity, religion and spirituality, career issues, and much more.
I want to say hello and acknowledge the strength, courage and determination it takes to seek help. Therapy can be an enriching, powerful journey. People come to therapy because they want something to change and want to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the world around them. Therapy can also be uncomfortable and hard work. Experience has taught me that human beings possess the most amazing resilience, strength, and capacity to heal, whatever challenges they have faced in life. I work to build on these strengths to help people achieve the changes that they want in life, and challenge what doesn't work.

Do the simplest things lead to the biggest problems, and sometimes big problems seem "not that big a deal"? Maybe you notice that you struggle with making connections (lasting friendships or romantic relationships etc.), and you feel alone even in a crowd. Do you struggle with mental health, trauma, or generational patterns that continually recycle in your mental, emotional, and physical experiences? Is it possible you or a loved one are struggling with addiction and have a hard time finding peace or relief? What if you are struggling with your spirituality and feel a little pull in a certain direction, and unsure of what to do?

I believe that you bring wisdom to the places of disorientation in your life. As a spiritually-integrated psychotherapist, my role is to help you nurture the conditions where you can reconnect with this wisdom. The primary condition for this reconnection is an authentic relationship with another person. At its best, therapy can help deepen self-awareness, awaken self-compassion, and broaden your capacity for meaningful relationships. My practice resonates for contemplative persons seeking an active partner in the work of reconnection and re-creation.

I believe we are born innately good, creative and self-actualizing. It is my greatest gift to companion with others on the full spectrum of their human journey. Healing happens when we feel heard, seen, and "gotten" by another. Relational trauma and societal conditioning can cause us to doubt our inner sensings and disconnect from our deepest truth. I specialize in helping trauma survivors reclaim and trust what is most authentic in themselves. My clients are often sensitive, intelligent, creative and motivated to heal.

Hello! I believe that each one of us comes into this world with particular strengths and gifts to offer. Through the turmoil, loss, and pain we face, we often become disconnected from our true and whole self, losing sight of these strengths and gifts. In our work together, my goal is to provide a safe and therapeutic container for you to explore what is blocking you from your joy, supporting and guiding you in reclaiming your whole self.

In my view, the client (or couple) who gets the most out of counseling is the one who demonstrates the following characteristics. They: (1) know what they want and are highly motivated to achieve it, (2) are willing to reflect on all aspects of their personhood--that is, emotions, thinking, and behavior, (3) are capable of taking responsibility for their own thoughts, feelings, and interactions with others, and (4) desire to become more loving of themselves and others.

Are you looking for something deeper out of therapy than feeling emotionally validated or learning to change your thought patterns? If you're like many people I've talked with, you don't want band-aids. You don't want coping skills for your depression, mindfulness exercises for your anxiety or panic - you want to know WHY you're experiencing those challenges in the first place. If you're asking these deeper questions, there's some part of you that is longing for more than just the immediate relief from your symptoms. There is a part of you that desires serious personal growth and transformation. And I want to help you achieve it!

Spirituality Therapists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.
What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.
Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.
How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
