La irritabilidad, la falta de sueño, el nerviosismo constante y la incapacidad para concentrarse hacen que sea difícil afrontarlo. Es posible que le resulte difícil comenzar o terminar el día. Con compasión, escuchamos y guíamos esas partes de sí mismo que se sienten desconectadas a volver autoestimas, aceptadas, y integradas. Sometimes, a good cry is just what you need to release all the hurt you have built up inside! People come to counseling because they want something to be different in their lives. They may want to change their personal or family situation, solve a particular problem, or simply bring a healthier balance to their lives. The counseling process can be fun and exciting. It can also, at times, be very challenging, difficult, and even painful. However, the goal will always be to bring about some positive change and meaningful outcomes!

Shannon is bilingual in Spanish and earned her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Michigan State University and her Masters Degree in Social Work and Masters Degree in Public Administration from Grand Valley State University. She has over 12 years of experience working from a trauma-informed perspective with youth and adults.

There are moments in life where you feel depressed, experience anxiety, or go through a rough patch and you need to talk with someone who will listen without judgment. These emotions are part of everyone's life experiences.

My mission is to provide evidence-based mental health services, education and advocacy in an integrative and holistic way (Biopsychosocial and spiritual) in order to bring about healing and transformation in individuals, families and communities. My career emphasis is on anxiety, depression, substance abuse issues, sexual addictions, sexual trauma, co-occurring disorders, and mid-life issues. I am a cross-culturally competent counselor who highly values and respects cultural differences. I am also committed to life-long learning and being able to make sound ethical decisions within diverse cultural contexts.

As a bilingual therapist (English & Spanish), I am passionate about helping people heal through difficult times, from past trauma, grief, and loss, as well as the different challenges one could be facing. I understand that no single approach works for every single individual, therefore I use an eclectic approach to treat each patient’s needs.

Therapy can be intimidating, unnerving, and worth it. If you know it's time to make the changes in your life that you keep putting off, I would love to help you put that plan into place. I help individuals and couples identify and overcome negative cycles that the find themselves in that leave them feeling hopeless and unsure of how to change. We don't always have control of what we experience in life, but we do have the ability to heal and learn how to find joy. I specialize in working with individuals who are overcoming eating disorders, anxiety, depression, life transitions and attachment trauma/wounds.

Life is often stressful and living with chronic illness only makes life more challenging. Having a therapist who also understands the mental and emotional side of chronic illness/diabetes can be really helpful. In my practice, I work with clients by compassionately building from their strengths, increasing their coping strategies for more insight and self-understanding, increased emotional regulation and stress management, and improving depression, anxiety, trauma, and diabetes-related distress.
