Some of the questions my clients often grapple with in therapy include: What has served me in the past that no longer serves me? Which choices help me open to experience rather than withdraw? How can I rely on my strengths to overcome obstacles? How do I grow from connections and disconnections in my relationships? I am primarily guided by the unique qualities and needs of each person or couple, and work collaboratively towards their desired outcomes. When appropriate, I provide suggestions for behavioral practices between sessions, in order to bridge what we do in therapy to your everyday life.
For me it is essential to incorporate the particular cultural context of each person's experience of distress. In addition to my mental health specialties, I have significant experience working with LGBTQ individuals, college and graduate students, transnational people, and Latinx families. I am Korean-Venezuelan and speak fluent Spanish.
My clients often describe me as engaging, compassionate, present and responsive. I see my greatest strength as my ability to easily connect with many different kinds of people, develop trust and rapport, and upon this foundation, build positive working relationships that promote healing.
