Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, MACC, LCMHC, NCC
Currently, I am only offering counseling for North Carolina residents. Virtual sessions only. Sometimes life is so difficult, it becomes overwhelming, and we need someone we can trust. Someone who can help. I would like to be that person for you. I believe you should have the opportunity to enjoy a purposeful life in the committed pursuit of your true identity, values, and goals. I strongly believe in providing a non-judgmental, empathetic, and supportive counseling environment where you can feel safe, accepted, and understood as you discover yourself more deeply and learn to thrive and not just survive.
When the alarm goes off in the morning, do you dread starting your day? Are you always tired? Instead of drinking cup after cup of coffee to keep moving, let’s change the narrative. Wake up after a night of restorative sleep, ready to meet your day with calm confidence. End the work day with a feeling of achievement and still have energy for your family. Call or email me when you are ready to change your story and we can schedule your first session.
Perhaps you are struggling with depression or suicidal thoughts, grieving the death of a loved one, or just feel stuck after a big life transition or trauma. All of us can use support as we work through difficult times in our lives. We will work together toward your goals by exploring your thoughts, feelings, and actions. I have worked with children, teens, adults and families in teaching them coping skills and helping to address difficult life transitions. Together we will discover your natural abilities to find the healing you seek and create the life you envision.
In relationships, it can be difficult to achieve the perfect balance between stability and excitement. It can be a challenge to communicate our needs to our partners and overcome the fear of vulnerability. Perhaps you feel like your relationship is at a crossroads or has become stagnant. Perhaps you are trying to heal from pain and repair the levels of fairness and trust in your relationship.
Are you struggling with thoughts, feelings, or behaviors that are having a negative impact in your life? Has sexual behavior become a source of despair, shame, or relational conflict? Do you find yourself searching to fill a void that cannot be explained? Have you struggled to build emotional intimacy with those close to you and your life is becoming unmanageable? Are memories from your past impacting your life in the present? Acknowledging these truths are difficult and require an experienced clinician who understands the role of trauma in reducing unwanted behaviors. I’m so glad our paths have crossed!
I believe we all are meant to live an inspired life, and with a little work, we can break through the obstacles that hinder or keep us from thriving. Sometimes those obstacles may define themselves as depression, anxiety, or obsessions. If you are feeling stuck in a routine life, if your present relationship is not moving forward, if the behavior and actions you use to cope with stress have trapped you, maybe it is time for a change. I work with individuals, couples, and marriage partners who want to reach a higher potential in their life.

I provide both outpatient mental health therapy and substance abuse/use assessments and therapy to all members of the community. Clients experiencing such issues as depression/anxiety, PTSD/trauma, life changes, gender identity concerns, and substance use will benefit from the services I offer. I utilize a person centered approach and work collaboratively with clients to address their needs. I meet clients 'where they are' and work with them to identify positive interventions and change. The comprehensive clinical assessments and substance abuse assessments I provide meet criteria for court ordered and school referred clients and can be completed in office or at your location.
**Unfortunately at this time, NOT accepting new clients*** I enjoy tailoring my approach and creating a warm, welcoming environment for work with clients who have a variety of concerns that may lead them to seek counseling including anxiety, depression, trauma, identity development, LGBTQ+ concerns, adjustment to new life stressors, stress management, grief and loss, body image concerns, and working with those who are going through the process for bariatric surgery, or are adjusting to the post-operative lifestyle. I also provide bariatric surgery evaluations that many programs require prior to surgery.

Why would anyone choose to open up to a complete stranger about pain and difficulty that is intensely personal? We often keep our problems to ourselves - for lots of understandable reasons - until we hit a wall and, in the 11th hour of fleeting hope, the hurt propels us to reach out for help. I am no different; I’ve been there before, and my passion is meeting people in the hour of greatest need to offer help and hope. I would be honored to speak with you about working together for healing, growth, and transformation.
You're feeling defeated and overwhelmed and wonder if anyone or anything can help. Life has become painful and unmanageable at times and nothing is quite working to make it better. You're not sure if the pain or heartache will ever go away. Sometimes, you use things to cope with life and those things start to become hurtful or harmful, too. Imagine being able to manage life not just by surviving or trying to get through the day but by experiencing peace, fulfillment and enjoyment.
Are you having a difficult time getting through a difficult experience or time in your life? Counseling is often sought when things do not feel right. I have over 15 years of experience in working with varied conditions/situations.I completed my MS in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Phoenix and my BA in Psychology with the University of Utah. I have been trained and certified in multiple mind/body modalities and believe that bringing the mind/body connection to awareness is an important part to achieving ones goals.
I would not say that I have an ideal client. I strive to meet my clients wherever they are at and go at the pace set by each client, as I believe that my clients know best about what they need and how to get there. My role is that of helping them untangle all of the thoughts and things that have gotten them to where they are and help them untangle them so that they can "see through the tangled mess" and I can help them formulate a path out.

Life can be difficult and bad things happen to all of us. Still, trauma, chronic pain and illness, anxiety, depression, or other mood and behavioral problems do NOT need to define you or your life. It can be challenging to make sense of it all, let go and truly heal. I have a passion to help young adults, military families, children (age 5-12) and others that have been impacted by the tough stuff life has to offer. Using a holistic, strengths-based approach, integrating wellness, creativity, and play, I will help you to discover and live according to your authentic self so you may become the best version of yourself!

Psychotherapy can be a scary experience. It is important that the therapist be able to make the person seeking therapy feel as comfortable and as much at ease as possible. I believe that a therapist who displays a genuine self is most effective in working with others...no psychological babble, no hiding behind fancy office furniture and suit and ties and yes, using practical, everyday language with practical, every day problem solution. I am this kind of therapist...practical, down-to-earth, effective and affordable.
