Sophie Angelique Desnoyers's Groups
Dialectical Behavior Skills (DBT) Training
DBT was created by Martha Linehan to treat people suffering with Borderline Personality Disorder, which had previously been deemed untreatable, but I find that DBT skills (including Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotional Regulation, and Distress Tolerance) are useful to everyone. Including me! This group is meant to provide supplemental support to clients already in individual therapy. The group will meet for 90 minutes weekly for 16 weeks with 4-8 clients in a group. Clients will receive psychoeducation on the skills, discuss how they utilize them in daily life, and empathize and troubleshoot challenges with one another.
Trauma Processing (Rape, DV, or Childhood Abuse)
The purpose of this group is to reduce your symptoms of PTSD and reduce feelings of shame by share your story in a safe space with other survivors. This group is meant for clients who have had at least 3 months of individual therapy and are actively attending. The group will meet for 90 minutes weekly for 8-12 weeks with 4- 6 clients in a group. There is a rigorous screening process for this group to ensure clients are ready for this step and that the environment is safe and supportive.
