My ideal client would be someone who is open and honest about the problem they are having and how they may have contributed to this problem (e.g. anxiety/depression). This individual would be able to participate in self-reflection and open communication. Their goal would be that they want to improve their mental health issue, with the overarching goal of living a happier better life that brings success. Ideally, this person would be motivated to make the necessary changed in their life that could lead to improvements in this mental health issue.
I would first show empathy and compassion when discussing their situation, noting that it is not hard to deal with this problem they have presented. We would go over current coping (negative and positive) as well as outside support systems and what they have previously done to solve this problem (what worked? what did not?).
Life can be overwhelming, life can be cruel and unfair, but you are not alone. I would be happy to work with you so that we can navigate these difficulties together and help you towards a better future.
