Hi! My name is Sonya and I am a licensed professional counselor and board certified music therapist working with adults dealing with mental health, life transitions, and substance abuse. I have seven years of experience working in both inpatient mental health and substance abuse rehab settings. I have experience working with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, substance abuse disorders, and post traumatic stress disorder. I am passionate about working with the LGBT population and other marginalized communities to support their overall mental health goals through affirming care.
I use evidenced based practices, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy, to help clients identify and implement behaviors that can help them achieve their goals and live fuller lives. I also use music therapy to help clients get in touch with their emotions through non-verbal means and connect with them internally.
