Much of my continuing education has focused around treating trauma, somatic therapy, DBT, CBT, mindfulness approaches, internal family systems (IFS), as well as EFT tapping.
I believe that healing and change are possible and my goal is to provide a warm and safe therapeutic environment to help assist you on your journey. I utilize a strengths-based and holistic approach in my work and believe that therapy should be a collaborative process where we are working together to find solutions to the struggles you are facing. I enjoy seeing diverse populations and have worked extensively with women, young adults, teenagers, and survivors of trauma and domestic violence.

Therapeutically, I draw from Somatic Experiencing, relational, and feminist theories that work together to meet your unique goals.
First things first: You are the expert on your experience! As a therapist, I am inspired by authentic connection and collaborative work. I know that these experiences live in the brain and the body and I often incorporate somatic practices in my approach.
My work is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and connection. I come to clinical social work with a deeply held belief that all people are deserving of care and I have seen how a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship can offer support when that care has been challenged. I know that part of healing means acknowledging and working beyond the systems that have caused harm and that this involves actively employing an anti-oppressive lens that refuses to pathologize trauma survival. I understand my clients are the experts on their experiences and I am committed to creating a practice that affirms people of all backgrounds.

Along with my formal education, I am a fully trained EMDR therapist and continuing to work in the field of embodiment and somatic work.
Experiencing several significant losses and dealing with my own physical health issues earlier in life served to help me recognize a deep sensitivity for the pain that people carry. As a therapist it is imperative to me that I do not ask my clients to go somewhere I am not willing to go. I seek to create spaces that are safe, welcoming and stable for client's experiencing distress from past or present. As our nervous systems have created ways to adapt and survive, I believe in the exploration and healing from the deepest parts of ourselves.

I take a multi-faceted and integrative approach to healing which includes talk therapy, dreamwork, symbolism and somatic experiencing.
Are you looking to find greater meaning and purpose in life? As a Jungian-oriented psychotherapist, I specialize in working with individuals experiencing life transitions, be it divorce, new parenthood, or midlife changes or loss. Anxiety, depression, loss of vitality, disordered eating, and addictions are symptoms of a deeper issue whose root cause must be treated in order to fully heal. Together, we will work to understand and heal the issues that are impeding your well-being to bring you back to a state of balance. Additionally, I work with adult individuals struggling with symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, depression and trauma.

From there, I use a variety of modalities: EMDR, CBT, somatic interventions, and mindfulness techniques.
Therapy can be both an immensely enriching and a challenging process, while the process of finding a therapist- one who is a good fit for you- well, that is usually just challenging. How to begin, when there are just so many options? My suggestion for you: take a deep breath, take your time, and trust your instincts. It is the counseling relationship- rather than a specific theoretical orientation or modality- that allows for lasting therapeutic change. We humans heal in relationship.

We will work on identifying sustainable goals together, increasing somatic awareness, restoring your resiliency, and honoring your strengths.
I’ve wanted to be a therapist since I was a teenager and I still can’t imagine doing anything else. It is such a great privilege to hear your life stories. I think it takes a lot of bravery to walk into my office and share your inner thoughts and feelings with me, especially if you haven’t experienced a lot of empathic listening in your life. As a fellow frequenter of the couch myself, I know how hard it can be! And also, how deeply meaningful. Through my own journey of healing from trauma and witnessing profound transformations in my clients, I bring more than just clinical tools to the therapeutic process.

There's hope for you, your child, teen, or young adult! If they are tired of chaos or can't find a way out of the tunnel, I am here. You or your child are not lost, only misguided by outside stress, traumatic events, judgments and invalidation. Everyone's a moment away from being rediscovered. I specialize in treating children through young adults (5- 26+) and hope to guide them on their journey. I identify key coping skills to manage rollercoaster emotions, chaotic relationships, impulsive/destructive behaviors, and connect mind-body through somatic practices. This stabilization allows space for processing of adverse experiences.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
