I want to support you in being the wonderful human you are in a way that is sustainable and nourishing, and that brings you joy! My work is rooted in the Hakomi Method (a somatic therapy), Expressive arts, and ecotherapy.
I work with people who feel overwhelmed--by work, big transitions, relationships, family, life. My approach is gentle, non-judgmental, and deep. I enjoy helping clients become more fully aware of themselves and of the patterns that hold them back in life, and working with them to feel more grounded and connected with themselves and with others. Many of my clients are people who are in helping professions or caretaking roles. Many are women or non-binary individuals, and are longing to feel more at home in their own skin and more confident in their own strength, beauty, and wisdom.

Using CBT, Somatic Experiencing, Art Therapy, and other tools, I help adult survivors of childhood emotional abuse, neglect, & inter-generational trauma work through their past experiences, manage cycles of anxiety, depression, & disconnection, build skills for coping with current events, and find freedom from the patterns that have been holding them back.
It's time to get up, but the day ahead feels too overwhelming. You've missed out on so much, and you worry what will happen next and what everyone will think. You feel powerless to change, and you’re so tired of trying things that don’t work. No one understands why you can’t just move forward, and you may feel completely alone. I want you to know that you’re not crazy, and things don't have to be like this forever. My clients report a deeper level of healing as they feel more connected to their bodies, experience more ease in their daily lives, and re-discover their strength and resilience.

Using somatic approaches to help with regulation can help us find safety and connection.
For so many people, our childhoods were not "good enough, safe enough." Maybe our caregivers were tricky and lacked the capacity to allow us full human experiences as children, and now our bodies are holding that pain. For some of us, we bonded with what was available- substances, food, sex, pain. For all of us, our emotions and behaviors make sense within the context of who we are and what we've been through. And we have survived the worst. Some of our behaviors may not be helping the way they once did. Together, we can start fulfilling the unmet needs that are underneath those behaviors so that you can grow in meaningful ways.

As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I provide guidance and support as clients begin to listen to their bodies and create resources to resolve trauma.
The most important need for individuals is to be truly heard. In my practice I place that need before everything else. My goal is to create an atmosphere of trust that allows the client the freedom to share their most personal experiences without fear of judgement. For over 30 years I have worked successfully with clients in crisis, those who have endured abuse and/or trauma, parents with issues related to their children, divorce and separation, grief and loss, as well as issues related to everyday living.

I utilize a trauma-informed approach with somatic (body based) and insight-oriented depth work.
How long have you been trying to fit a mold that isn't yours? What if instead of focusing on change and “fixing”, you were able to show compassion for yourself and find true, genuine acceptance of the person you are? What if that’s where real change actually comes from? Maybe you're seeking a soft place to land and explore difficult situations without having to put on the "strong, brave face". I work to cultivate authentic connections with my clients where genuine acceptance is central. I love helping others shift into new ways of connecting with themselves and create meaningful paths forward.

My work is informed by somatic and contemplative theories and practices, emphasizing acceptance, compassion, and embodiment.
**Availability for Telehealth Counseling** I work with dynamic women and men who want to do big things with their lives yet experience mood and health challenges that keep them from fully realizing their potential. I help them get centered, balanced, and healthy so they're happier, more vital ... and more fulfilled. I work with the "highly sensitive person" who struggles with self-acceptance, guilt, and shame. Additionally, I work with people facing health challenges, helping them regain the capabilities they've lost and vigor they once enjoyed.

I specialize in somatic therapy with adults healing from past painful/traumatic experiences and childhood abuse and neglect.
Freedom, joy, connection, and peace are our natural state of being. They happen on their own when our bodies feel safe and supported enough to release painful past experiences that keep us stuck in distressing patterns. We feel unable to relax and are busy and burnt out. Being truly seen and loved and feeling belonging are deep desires for us, but seem unfulfillable. Instead, we resort to self improvement. Expressing our boundaries, feelings, and needs with others isn't easy. We often feel anxious, sad, shameful, numb, or alone. Triggers or physical symptoms intrude in our lives regularly. Our bodies don't feel at home.

Clients come to me with stress, sadness, anxiety, guilt, grief, shame, confusion, addictions, relationship issues and trauma. Clients often need help with processing overwhelming emotional experiences and getting back to a place where they can 'self-regulate' their own nervous systems during tough times. My work focuses on a somatic/body-centered, trauma informed, mindfulness-based approach. Clients who work with me find that the therapeutic relationship serves as a resource for getting where they want to be in their lives. With therapeutic support, difficult experiences help guide us to our innate wisdom, strength and resilience.

My approach is based in mindfulness, somatic work, attachment, eco therapy, and expressive arts.
Are you anxious and navigating more questions than answers? Do you have difficulty trusting your own feelings? Are you tired of putting everyone else's needs before your own? Perhaps you struggle with negative self-talk, perfectionism, and loving yourself. You may wake up to one existential crisis after another and find yourself confused about the future. You might feel disconnected from your inner compass and creative life. You may need support navigating change and loss. You desire therapy because you are ready to grow further and receive support. You are ready to embrace more connection, self-love, and authenticity.

Real change is possible. Successful therapy explores human life in its fullest sense - what we do, what we think, and what we feel - while being grounded in the deep experience of living in a human body. My primary therapeutic framework is called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which provides a rich, evidence-based, blend of mindful and somatic interventions, along with a strong cognitive and behavioral orientation. Together, my clients and I examine our deepest values, and how those values are expressed in how we live each day. Our lives are not problems to be solved - they are opportunities to flourish.

I am trained in EMDR, IFS, DBT, and focus on various somatic modalities to help downshift the nervous system, shift patterns of held stress, and release trauma stored in the body.
Being a person can be hard. Living a life that best suits you as an individual is a work in progress. Along the way, there are undoubtedly challenges. Sometimes, our experiences leave us confused, overwhelmed, and in need of some support. As a therapist, my role is to help understand where you’ve been, where you’d like to go, and help you get there. It’s possible to move from getting by to feeling you have agency over your own life and choices. I specialize in working with challenging life events such as trauma, major life changes, relationship distress, and chronic illnesses. I also work with C-PTSD and Narcissistic Abuse recovery.

She uses a somatic-attachment parts work approach to help women return to themselves.
Kate is a licensed therapist who helps women tired of feeling stuck in cycles of stress, burnout, and overwhelm, change their baseline so they can feel peace, ease, and more authentically connected to others and themselves. If you feel ready to explore deeper issues like anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, and unhealthy patterns, Kate will help you learn to regulate your emotions, improve communication, and break old cycles. She believes transformation results from understanding how the parts of you and your nervous system have kept you safe, while also taking courageous, imperfect action to create lasting change.

In session, I frequently draw upon mindfulness-based interventions, somatic experiencing, emotionally focused therapy, family systems theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, The Gottman Method, embodiment, and attachment theory.
I’m guided by my belief in the eternal worth and inherent wisdom of each person. Each individual is the expert of their own experience, and, within each of us, lies an immense power for self-healing. My therapeutic style can be described as warm, collaborative, and experiential. I view my role in this process as a facilitator, working alongside individuals as they reflect upon their experiences, broaden their awareness, and investigate ongoing behavioral patterns. Together, we may begin to freely explore prevailing paradigms and construct a more personalized path forward.

I incorporate a variety of approaches, including psychodynamic, somatic, emotionally focused, existential, and Gestalt.
My approach is rooted in the experience and belief that we have the answers within. I want my clients to not only survive the challenges they are facing, but to thrive and live a life that they love. My clients are often incredibly intelligent, creative, and driven. I have seen my clients accomplish amazing things when they get clear on their goals and apply their gifts toward a fulfilling and meaningful life. My goal is to help you get beneath the layers (often thoughts, behaviors, and relationship patterns) and get down to your core. Much of our work focuses on aligning your decisions and actions with your own truth.

We'll work together to identify patterns, develop coping strategies, and cultivate resilience utilizing bottom-up therapies like EMDR, somatic work, IFS, yoga, expressive art and breath-work.
Our bodies hold the story our minds aren't ready to heal. With a warm and non-judgmental approach, I provide a safe space for you to connect to your body, heal from past wounds, and uncover your inner strengths. I work well with clients seeking an integrative, trauma informed, holistic wellness approach to therapy. I love helping clients become empowered and connected to their story, body, relationships, and values. Bringing the body into the process of healing is powerful and kind. I work with trauma, spiritual abuse, body image, and perinatal mental health concerns.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
