I have specialized in working with different ages over the past almost 3 decades and now get to work with them ALL. I creatively engage children/adolescents with interventions tailored to individual needs. I equip & support my clients' parents/guardians from a parent and clinician perspective. My favorite job of all time was directing a college counseling center as young adulthood is an ideal time for intervention to build resiliency and equip for the future. I want to meet adult clients in the midst of their challenges, crises, mental health struggles, and just plain life.

I work with individuals feeling stuck in old behavior patterns or stress; who are ready to create change. Change can feel vulnerable, but it is very brave and often where healing starts. You are the expert in your healing journey, and I am honored to be a supportive witness. I incorporate mindfulness techniques, “being with things the way they are”. I also use my somatic experiencing training to help individuals feel safer in their bodies. Selectively, I will use EMDR with clients who express readiness for reprocessing difficult memories or experiences. It is a privilege to support others' journey back to themselves.

I bring years of life experience and am trained in Gestalt techniques, EMDR, somatic psychotherapy, Grief Recovery Process, guided imagery, traditional talk therapy and Heart Centered Hypnotherapy.
Counseling is often thought of as something "weak people" turn to or something to use when you're "going crazy". In reality, counseling is a process that helps people deal with problems that occur with living our day-to-day lives. When life feels difficult or stressful, it often helps to talk with a person who listens well - to have a place where you can be heard and understood in a way that makes a difference. Counseling is that place; a collaborative process that can help you explore what's working well in your life and what you want to be different. With counseling, I want you to be able to live your most authentic life.

I specialize in working with those who are struggling with life transitions, trauma related events, addiction, people pleasing and relational stressors. You deserve an empathetic witness on board to process, problem solve, and build skills to handle whatever life has thrown at you. I utilize a "bottom up" approach with somatic experiencing, as well as, internal family system themes, motivational interviewing and other evidence based modalities.

I utilize body based, Somatic Experiencing techniques to work with the nervous system and allow the body to process and integrate, in addition to talk therapy.
Change can be scary, even thinking about processing it may feel insurmountable. It's not easy to reach out for help, you're already taking a brave step towards healing. You might be feeling different emotions right now—maybe you're overwhelmed, nervous, lonely, or scared. Whatever you're going through, I want you to know that you're not alone. Together, we'll work on understanding yourself better, finding ways to grow, and build resilience.

I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and use other mind-body techniques, including Brainspotting and Internal Family Systems to help you not only understand, but to heal what's generating anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and conflicted relationships.
Are you struggling to feel like yourself? "Coping" but with lots of effort, distraction, or numbing? Feeling anxious, angry, overwhelmed? Thinking "What's wrong with me?!" As it turns out, you're not crazy or broken: Your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors make sense as responses to your unique life experiences. With me you will learn a new language to talk about what's happening inside, and to see it as a result of what you've been through vs a character flaw. When "broken" is no longer your identity, your symptoms have less power, and space opens up for your authentic, grounded, compassionate, and boundaried self to emerge.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
