Using breathwork, mindfulness, and other somatic tools, you will understand and process core feelings in order to clear them and make space for ease and vitality.
You're exhausted, disconnected, going through the motions. You give so much of yourself each and every day. For the most part you feel like you are managing through the daily stressors, but you aren't living with the vitality you had imagined for yourself. The constant stressors of life, work, parenting, and relationships have you feeling drained. You're burnt out. You want to reconnect with yourself, your vitality. You know that you can't make all your stressors disappear, but you know there is better way filled with more ease and gentle flow.

My approach centers around Attachment Theory, IFS (internal family systems), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) and somatic therapies such a breathing and movement.
Hello, welcome to the next step in your healing journey. My goal in helping you in your journey is to build a therapeutic relationship that allows you to envision the life you want to live and work together to get there. In addition to mental health counseling, I specialize in using somatic/movement therapies and acupuncture to guide you through awareness of your body, mind and soul. This process allows you to see your daily patterns of living and recognize if they help or hinder your ability to live the life that fulfills you. I best serve LGBTQIA, neurodivergent clients and under served clients.

I have been well trained in Attachment (Circle of Security, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy); trauma (Internal Family Systems, Somatic work/movement based work, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and Bruce Perry).
What I hear most often from clients are, "I've been to other therapists, and you are different. This feels like I'm changing!" When you are with me, you will know that 100% of my attuned attention is with you. I pay attention to what you say, how you say it, what your body movement tells me, and what your history tells me. If you are seeking support for yourself for inner healing from trauma (all sorts), postpartum depression or anxiety, chronic illness, anxiety, panic, grief, life transitions, or you are in a relationship that needs support, contact me.

I practice Basic EMDR, SOMATIC therapy, animal therapy, CBT, mindfulness, and a person-centered approach.
Trauma comes in many shapes and forms. A deeply distressing and disturbing experience in your life can have many negative effects such as feeling numb or like you’re just “going through the motions,” deep depression and sadness, or feeling “broken.” But you are not alone in feeling this way. I understand the power of trauma and how it can destroy you, overtaking your mind and your body. It’s a wound that changes a person. Especially if you don’t let it out. It finds unhealthy ways. The trauma can overpower you and take control. But you can become "unbroken."

I work from a lens of compassionate curiosity and use an integrative tool kit of mindfulness, meditation, grounding techniques, somatic tools, CBT, DBT and exploratory processing.
You deserve to feel empowered in your daily life- to be the one who confidently shows up for yourself in times of difficulty. I believe empowerment happens through a better understanding of the ways stress and trauma manifests in our minds/bodies. I seek to support those who experience barriers to empowerment, through the use of tools for stress management/mood regulation, self advocacy and healthy communication. I work primarily with anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, and relational stress. Together, we will question and challenge old stories, thoughts and behaviors that hold you back from embodying your empowered self.

By reducing symptoms through cognitive and somatic techniques.
Feeling consumed by a never-ending wave of anxiety and stress. Finding it challenging to experience happiness and motivation due to ongoing feelings of depression. Struggling to maintain positive relationships and connections with others. Engaged in a constant battle against negative thoughts about oneself and dealing with low self-confidence. The desire is strong to break free from the clutches of anxiety, stress, and depression that have taken hold of life. Exhaustion sets in as emotions continue to wash over, but there is readiness for embracing empowering strategies that can lead towards a more balanced and gratifying existence.

I believe that my own liberation is rooted in yours. I believe that it is through relationships that we are able to witness and know ourselves. This is where healing is done. These relationships can be intrapersonal or interpersonal; they can involve plants, animals, and elements; they can be with our ancestors, deities, and guides; they can be with systems and structures. I serve as a compassionate and steady accomplice, holding space with you in your quest to find healing through relationship.

My specialties include helping people who are going through extreme and disorienting experiences, whether prompted externally through their relationships and life circumstances, or through the action of powerful inner forces. I also work well with those who wish to explore and transform the origins of their long-standing emotional blockages. More generally, I work with people from highly traumatized backgrounds, including diffuse and difficult to name traumas such as enmeshment and emotional neglect. Those who believe they may be experiencing spiritual emergency or dissociative symptoms are especially encouraged to get in touch.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
