I believe in the importance of processing and resolving core issues, as these issues are often what hold us back. I have a passion for working with individuals who may feel "stuck" due to unresolved core issues.

Matt is prepared to work with diverse clients on a variety of topics and has a focus on relationships, communication, shame, guilt, trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression. He allows for his client's to explore and express their thoughts, feelings, and behavior without judgment at a pace that they determine.

I enjoy assisting clients in recognizing their strengths and promoting positive growth. I use a client-centered approach but also use a combination of solution-focused, cognitive/ behavior modification and motivational interviewing.

As a mental health clinician, I work with clients on depression, anxiety, ADHD, anger management, grief, separation, parenting skills, communication, and family conflict. These clients come to therapy to improve their quality of life, and gain insight on how their thoughts, mood, and actions impact their overall goals. Therapy is a collaborative process involving both the client and clinician to establish a working relationship that is built on trust, compassion, and empowerment. You are the expert on yourself, and I am your guide through the process. Success comes from both of us working together as a team.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with fifteen years of clinical experience. I completed my undergraduate degree in Social Work from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and my Master's degree in Social Work, with an emphasis in Family Systems Theory, at Saint Louis University. I understand that clients are the experts of their own lives and join with clients to determine treatment goals. I work throughout the time we have together focusing on helping those I serve achieve emotional balance.

After having worked as a school counselor at the grade school level for nine years, and at the high school level for fifteen, I transitioned to working with adults in a clinical setting, twelve years ago. I have experience in meeting with people to work through relationship issues, process emotions, and learn new tools for dealing with anxiety, depression, and stress.

Katie spends much of her time working with individuals and couples at various stages in their life; helping them explore relationship patterns, healthy boundaries, and experiences from their past that may be contributing to conflict. She believes that we all desire connections with others, but often life experiences complicate this. Katie has extensive training in treating trauma and is a Certified Clinical Professional Trauma (CCTP) therapist.

I have had a variety of experiences working with people who have had different types of problems. I have worked with individuals having problems ranging from anxiety, depression, anger management, chronic habitual problems, compulsivity, bipolar, sexual addiction, sexual offending/deviant behaviors, and psychotic issues. The value of therapy is that clients can come in with issues and with work receive some results in the form of change. It is my job to help facilitate that process. I believe in helping people work out their problems and provide them with the skill sets to help them accomplish their goals.

In more than two decades in the field of mental health, I have served as a crisis counselor, clinical supervisor of a substance abuse program, an ER social worker, a forensic social worker - and currently as a clinical therapist. In addition, I have more than a decade of experience as an adjunct professor teaching Psychology, Sociology, Social Diversity and Marriage & Family. I believe this has given me a unique insight into the many issues that people struggle with - and an ability to help from a variety of perspectives.
