Welcome to HeartMatters NYC Counseling, a multicultural, faith-based counseling practice in the heart of Manhattan. I am Sobeyda Valle-Ellis, LCSW, Director & founder, and I am delighted to come alongside you when life gets hard so you don't have to walk alone. It is my privilege to offer a therapeutic home to those who live as Third Culture individuals and/or experience the struggle and isolation from being the "first" in their family and "only" one in their classroom, office or team. Together we work to attune to the losses, name & process the pain, then explore new and better stories and ways of grace, hope and flourishing.
I am a relationship expert, certified in EFT couples therapy with advanced training in trauma-informed therapies, specifically AEDP and PACT couples therapy. Along with my therapy team, I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, PTSD, self-sabotaging patterns, childhood trauma, conflicted relationships, and stress related disorders.
I take a very relational and compassionate approach in therapy. And work collaboratively, inviting my clients to be active participants in understanding, naming their stories, attuning to their losses, pain and suffering, then exploring better stories and ways toward recovery, healing and flourishing.
