I personally struggled with insomnia for over a decade and thought I was doomed to bad sleep until I discovered CBT-I and was cured in 8 weeks.
I partner with adults who are frustrated with their sleep & desperate for more restful nights. Together, we can collaborate to ensure you get the restorative sleep you need. As a sleep therapist, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and specialize in identifying and addressing the root causes of your insomnia. CBT-I is the most effective treatment for insomnia and often only takes 8-10 sessions.

Do you struggle with feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and uncertain about life? Feeling challenges with trauma, relationships, depression, anxiety or grief? Struggling to maintain a healthy work-life balance? Does your sleep suffer or are you fearful of making the wrong move? You're not alone. Too often, we prioritize our daily duties and neglect our own wellbeing. But taking time for oneself is essential for health and wellbeing

My main areas of practice are Depression, Anxiety, Sleep issues (CBT-i), Life Coaching, Stress/Stress-related disorders, Biofeedback and Couples Communication.
I have a strong belief in each person's ability to "heal" and help themselves with the assistance and empowerment of counseling. I provide a safe, professional, and understanding environment for you to explore your situation and make the necessary changes to improve your quality of life. I have an eclectic style with the majority of my training being in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This style allows me the flexibility of approaching each person in the way that fits them best. I love seeing the improvement clients can make, especially using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I specialize in working with hard-working, goal-oriented, perfectionists who are experiencing the tolls of chronic stress. Many of my clients have roles caring for others, for example: healthcare workers, teachers, parents, and business owners. Fatigue, irritability, insomnia, brain fog, imposter anxiety, and burnout are common struggles I see in my practice. Because, for many caregiver/healer types, taking time to nurture ourselves can be incredibly challenging. At Nurtured Psychology we work together to regain a sense of balance and to reconnect with ease and joy in your roles.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
