Congratulations on being ready and willing to make changes in your life! Have you been struggling to cope with the challenges that life sometimes brings? Has this struggle caused you to feel sad, worried, or unhealthy? This is the first step towards healing and growing. Therapy is a great way to understand why we do what we do and how to stop some of the negative patterns our brain has set based on our past experiences.

I have previous experience working as a Social Worker for two nonprofit foster care and adoption agencies for 10 years. I also have experience working with children and families at school sites and in a clinic nonprofit setting for over 6 years as a Clinician, Supervisor, and Parent Partner. I work best with people who are open to looking at things with a different perspective and trying new things (even "outside of the box" approaches) with the belief that everyone has the potential for change and to make a better life.

I have experience working with individuals who have depression, anxiety, trauma, and challenges with sleep.
Are you feeling more anxious or depressed lately? Are the current events in your life making it difficult to navigate life? Or are you just feeling like you need to process trauma from your past? If this is the case for you, it might be time to consider therapy. Healing and recovery can sometimes be challenging and can feel impossible, but with the right therapist, recovery and healing is possible. Give yourself the opportunity to reflect, challenge yourself, and heal whatever may be standing in your way of reaching your goals.

Something has changed for you, or perhaps your child or teen. You/They seem sad, depressed, anxious or angry and upset a lot more than before. And now... It's getting to the point where your/their functioning isn't working out anymore. Maybe you've heard from friends, family, work colleagues, maybe even teachers or coaches... They notice something is going on and are concerned.

Life is to enjoy and a little help can make the difference you never imagined possible. When we reach the tipping point in our lives it's hard to trust that talking to someone might help. But it can. I have more than twenty years experience helping individuals, couples, teens and families improve. Using principles and techniques of Energy Psychology, EMDR, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and my own multidimensional approach which takes into account mind, body and spirit, we can create the change you need.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
