I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and as a counselor, it's my passion to come alongside individuals who seek to deepen their self-awareness and cultivate healthier long-lasting relationships. A foundational belief I hold is that we are created for relationships, and those relationships can shape or break us. With that being said, I believe the sacred relationship between client and therapist has the ability to offer profound opportunities for both healing and transformation. My primary goal in treatment is to make sure every person walks away from session feeling seen, heard, and felt.

Many of us wake up every day with feelings of the unknown- not knowing how we feel, what led us down this road, wondering how to deal with it and if we will be judged. We put on FACE daily to hide the depression, anxiety, loneliness and bottled up pain that we feel just so, we do not have to answer the uncomfortable question of, “What’s wrong”. Not realizing that not being honest with ourselves is making our emotional and psychological state worse. Faces Therapeutic and wellness was designed to assist you with peeling away your many faces so that complete emotional and psychological healing can take place.

Spiraling into negative thoughts is a daily struggle. Often, you feel yourself unraveling and the mask to which you cling to chips away little by little. You may have felt ok from time to time or just feel numb. You might feel overwhelmed with your other responsibilities or daily to-do list, or you might even forget what day of the week it is. This might be one of the hardest times for you because you know you need to get better but don't where to begin. The thought of self-care just feels exhausting, like a waste of time, or even a selfish desire.

Life can be a bumpy road. The path we take can lead us to happiness or to despair. Making a wrong turn, not knowing which way to go or reaching what seems like a dead end is not the end of your journey. Sometimes we all need help getting to where we want to be. As a therapist, I help make your journey a more positive one. Grief or trauma can hinder you from moving forward. The loss of a loved one, job, relationship, pregnancy or even your life before illness or change can cause feelings of grief. Counseling helps work through the pain of your trauma or loss to experience joy again. The life you want is within reach.

I believe the biggest part of my job is to provide a safe space for you to share about yourself and what you’re experiencing. I provide psychotherapy without regard to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity while making you feel heard and understood. From there we can work on ways for you to improve your coping in whatever it is you’re going through.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
