I treat children and adolescents with various struggles, though I have a special focus on anxiety and selective mutism. Therapy with me may involve working through play, parenting strategies, or sometimes direct intervention in the school setting. With older children or adolescents, we may look at self-awareness, coping strategies, and social skills. Being that some forms of anxiety become apparent as early as preschool, I also work with very young children and teach parents how to support them. When appropriate, I offer intensive treatment for selective mutism, which allows progress to be made more quickly.
I’ve worked/trained in many settings (regular school, specialized school for children with extreme behavioral/psychiatric challenges, community clinic, psychiatric hospital), all of which have shaped my approach to treatment. I understand the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration and wrap-around care to help children reach their full potential.
