I have been a psychotherapist for more than 20 years, counseling individuals and couples with a variety of psychiatric conditions and life transitions. I see the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative process and create an environment where you can begin to critically think about your life choices while exploring relationship patterns. I will help you achieve both clarity and resolution with respect to life transitions and relationships by asking precise questions. Together we will focus on issues regarding empowerment, liberation and healing. You will reflect, act, and reflect again on your emotional and social life.
My approach combines traditional psychoanalysis with critical pedagogy and liberation psychology, into what I call "critical therapy". I have trained at the New York Freudian Society and the New York Psychoanalytic Society. More recently have given numerous presentations on critical therapy throughout the country. My specialty is trauma and PTSD.
I have a Masters in Psychology and a Masters in Social Work. I have been featured in: Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, International Business Times, and Women's Health. I am the founder and President of the Critical Therapy Institute and author of Critical Therapy: Power and Liberation in Psychotherapy.
