As parents, we live in the real world, and we need realistic ideas - not a list of additional jobs. With Hashem's help, you can make your home the way you dreamt it. Parents carry a lot, so they are relieved when they walk out of our meetings with ideas that are simple, immediate, and powerful. If you find the "behavioral" approach ineffective or hard to follow, this might be because the child is reacting to stress in the family. When you discover and meet your child's deepest needs, difficult behaviors become unnecessary. Often, you can make change happen very quickly. I need both parents' involvement for this process to work.
Family members are the healers, whether your child was labeled ADHD, oppositional, behavioral, or shy. My role is to calm the emotions, open up avoided topics, and to advise when needed. This allows families to solve serious problems as a team under expert supervision. Families become a place where everyone can express their needs in a connecting way.
Often, parents show up at the office after struggling for a while. They have tried different therapies, exhausted themselves trying different techniques, and getting conflicting and confusing advice. My family therapy is about finding the most powerful and achievable way to relieve everyone's stress. I will start by asking you to give me an insider's view.
