Shreya Mandal's Groups
New York Zoom Women's Book Therapy Group
Bibliotherapy is a creative arts therapy that involves storytelling or the reading of specific texts. It uses an individual's relationship to the content of books and poetry and other written words as therapy. Bibliotherapy partially overlaps with, and is often combined with, writing therapy. In this group, we will read and discuss selected reading for the month. We will meet on a weekly basis to work through relevant text and draw therapeutic support and insights from carefully curated books. This is a virtual group and will meet on Zoom.
New York Women of Color Poetry Therapy Group
Poetry therapy is the use of language, symbol, and story in therapeutic, educational, growth, and community-building capacities. It relies upon the use of poems, stories, song lyrics, imagery, and metaphor to facilitate personal growth, healing, and greater self-awareness. This group is intended to be a space for supplemental therapy for those are seeking general support, empathy, compassion, and a creative space for healthy expression. This is a curated non-judgmental space. Women from all over New York are welcome. A wide range of insurances are accepted. This group meets on Zoom.
