Shonda is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Professional Music Therapist who works with all ages, young children through senior adults. Her area of expertise is incorporating Music Therapy and other Expressive Therapies to enhance and support counseling interventions. Shonda is passionate about helping her counseling clients grow through creative and expressive therapies. Shonda believes in a Person-Centered approach and utilizes Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, DBT, Play Therapy and the many varied techniques that are a part of Music Therapy, Movement to Music and Therapeutic Art to Music.
Shonda earned her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Wright State University and her Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Ohio University. Shonda has worked in private practice as a Music Therapist for over 20 years in a variety of settings including psychiatric hospitals, day programs, schools, hospices and senior communities.
When she isn’t working, Shonda loves to spend time with her husband and four sons. She likes to re-set and re-energize by spending time in nature and music. Shonda is accepting new clients.
