Greetings, I am Shirley Cheney a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I provide therapy and counseling to adults struggling with depression, anxiety, mood, and thought disorders with co-occurring substance use challenges. I work well with adults with mental health and substance use disorders. I endeavor to create a partnership to encourage and empower those suffering from co-occurring conditions.
I use a multi-modality approach frequently using cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused and strength-based therapies, motivational interviewing, Christian concepts, and the inclusion of calming and coping skills. My communication style is calm, realistic, inquisitive, and supportive. Many clients remarked I have a calming and humorous approach.
My path to become a social worker involved lived experience. I am enthusiastically dedicated to help those suffering from mental and emotional turmoil to live their best life. I support clients in the develop their goals. I encourage clients to prepare a contingency plan in case of a set back.
