About
Dr. Shira Benhorin is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in working with preschoolers/children, adolescents, and families with a wide range of behavioral, emotional, and social concerns, including behavioral challenges, anxiety, depression, ADHD, school challenges, social difficulties, and parent-child challenges. I offer individual and family therapy, and work closely with parents to enhance parenting and behavior management skills. I also specialize in working with children with Feeding Disorders (extreme food selectivity, limited oral intake), and LGBTQ youth and families.
I received training and worked in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient, inpatient, day and residential programs, university counseling center, and a pediatric hospital. I completed my postdoctoral psychology fellowship at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital where I later served as the Director of Pediatric Psychology Feeding Disorder services.
I take a holistic, strength-based, and collaborative approach to therapy, working closely with clients, families, and other professionals to develop the most effective treatment plans. I use empirically validated interventions including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, behavior management and modification, family systems, ecological systems, and mindfulness.
