An old Chinese proverb states, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." That's how to see therapy. Starting therapy can be intimidating, but taking that first step can lead to positive changes in your life. I work with clients who have a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and trauma. During therapy, we will also work on any daily issues that you may be struggling with. I utilize a variety of treatment methods, including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), TF-CBT (Trauma Focused CBT), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), MI (Motivational Interviewing), and now CRA (Community Reinforcement Approach). I have learned that sometimes you have to use the method that best suits the client on that specific day.
I prefer to have open and relaxed discussions. I will ask questions to find out information from you, and when I have information to share, I will provide it as clearly as possible. I use comparisons sometimes to help illustrate my point. I want you to feel comfortable sharing information with me, even the tough stuff.
