Whatever brings you into the counseling space, my interest is in working toward your personal goals and utilizing your strengths to achieve them. I approach clients from the perspective of Relational Cultural Theory. This means I consider how your social environment has shaped who you are, and the ways in which this context has presented benefits and challenges. This approach also explores how you feel connected to the people in your life, which might include experiences of disconnection or rupture.
From here, we can draw on cognitive and behavioral techniques (focusing on how you think and act) to take pragmatic steps toward your personal growth. Knowing that stress and trauma frequently show up in the body, I like to think about how we can take care of ourselves in a holistic way.
Outside counseling, I spend time engaging in creative pursuits and am happy to bring your expressive practices into the therapeutic journey if this is of interest.
