Hello, my name is Sheila Owen LCSW, LADC. I have decades of experience helping others to reach their personal and mental health goals. Depression, anxiety, and addiction are some of the areas I work with. My approach is evidence-based, supportive, and with gentle feedback. I build rapport with my clients by listening with empathy, trust, and warmth. Feedback is gentle and compassionate, not critical or judgmental. I draw upon 30 years of experience in the treatment of mental health and addiction issues in hospitals, treatment centers, and private practice.
Evidence-based practice is key in my modalities, which means the approach has been researched and proven to be effective. CBT, DBT, and solution-focused are all used in my practice. I help people with mood disorders, including depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. PTSD is within my scope of practice. I also work with people who have addictions.
I love working directly with people and making an impact on their lives. If a person learns something from me that helps him feel better or helps him reach a goal, I am doing my job as a therapist. I have worked in multiple hospitals and treatment centers but find individual, family, and couples work the most rewarding.
